Abstract
We checked the H-I antibody titer of the 66 healthy child between 6 and 13 years old age, residing in Taegu prior to vaccination from June to September 1970. And the 40 cases were given lcc of J.B.E. vaccine subcutaneously twice at one week interval and three weeks after the first vaccination we checked the H-I antibody titer, and 12 weeks after the first vaccination the 30 cases were checked.
The H-I antibody titer was measured in accordance with Clarke and Chart¢¥s method.
1. Conversion rate of the H-I antibody titer after J.B.E. vaccination, showed 62. 5%, talking the
case with more than 1:20 or two fold of antibody titer, and 82.5%, talking the case with more than 1:10 or one fold of antibody titer.
2. The mean titer of the H-I antibody of the vaccinated and nonraccinated group is showed that 16.6% of non vaccinated group maintained more than 1:10 of antibody titer and the mean titer was 1:2.88, and that in vaccinated group, 3 weeks after the first vaccination 92% of the 40 cases maintained the antibody and the mean titer was 1:29.7, and 12 weeks after the first vaccination 83% of the 30 cases maintained the antibody and the mean titer was 1:34.3. Consequently, 11 cases (16.6%) among the 66 cases of the non-vaccinated group had the natural immunity, while the vaccinated group showed high antibody titer in comparison with the non-vaccinated group.
3. The rate obtaining the natural immunity between the urban and the rural area are 10.9% in the urban area and 30.0% in the rural area.
4. When the rate obtaining the natural immunity compared by sex and age, it showed no significant difference.
